Gronkowski worked on the side with trainers during OTA and minicamp practice, but there don't appear to be any worries about his availability for training camp. Gronk did stop short of elaborating on the progress of the ankle. His recent six-year, $54 million extension suggests the Pats have no short- or long-term concerns. Expect Gronkowski to be fully healed well ahead of the opener.

In other words, he's out for Week 4, as well, and playing in Week 5 against the Broncos would be a best-case scenario for Hernandez. The Patriots may lean on Wes Welker and Julian Edelman more in Hernandez's absence, increasing both slot receivers' fantasy prospects. Fantasy owners need to hang onto Hernandez and not drop him. He's a top-five tight end when healthy, and we wouldn't be surprised if the 22-year-old recovered quicker than expected.

This jibes with earlier reports from ProFootballTalk.com and ESPN Boston. If Hernandez returns in exactly a month, he'd be back for a Week 6 matchup with the Seahawks. If he misses the full six weeks, he's looking at Week 8 against the Rams. Note that the Patriots' bye is looming in Week 9. Hernandez, 22, does have youth on his side as he embarks on his rehab. We're not dropping him as he still projects as a difference-maker well before the fantasy playoffs.

Hernandez's best-case scenario to return from a mild high-ankle sprain was set at Week 5, and it looks like he may have a shot at hitting that mark. Although he has shed his walking boot, Hernandez has yet to practice this week. The Patriots square off against the Broncos next week and the Seahawks in Week 6.

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reported that Rob Gronkowski (hip, questionable) is expected to play on Sunday against the Broncos.

Gronkowski has been dealing with "significant" hip pain and discomfort over the past two weeks, but he was never in real danger of missing the Week 5 showdown against Denver. Gronk was seen earlier in the morning walking without a limp, so he seems ready to go. The Patriots may give him a series or two off as they did last week against the Bills, but Gronk has a phenomenal mathcup with the seventh-worst defense against opposing tight ends. Aaron Hernandez (ankle) is unlikely to play.

Aaron Hernandez (ankle) participated in Wednesday's practice.

Hernandez's exact level of participation is unclear, but it's obviously a great sign for a player believed to be targeting a Week 6 return. Owners can be cautiously optimistic he'll suit up against the Seahawks. Hernandez's status will be updated Thursday.

Appearing on NFL Network's First on the Field, Albert Breer reported that Aaron Hernandez (ankle, questionable) "will not play" in Week 10 against the Bills.

This goes with ESPN's Adam Schefter's report from Saturday night that Hernandez was "not expected to play." New England activated Visanthe Shiancoe from injured reserve designated for return yesterday afternoon, so they'll have him, Daniel Fells, and Michael Hoomanawanui behind Rob Gronkowski. Gronk should dominate targets, and neither of the other three are fantasy options. Check Chris Wesseling's rankings to find a TE2 to replace Hernandez, who will look to return against the Colts in Week 11.

Rob Gronkowski (forearm) remained limited in Thursday's practice.

We don't know anything more about Gronkowski's status than we did 24 hours ago. He'll likely remain limited in Friday's practice before earning his second straight "questionable" tag for Week 16. Although that would typically be a sign a player is ready to return, ESPN's Adam Schefter believes the Pats have planned "all along" to hold Gronk out until Week 17. Gronk can't be counted on for the fantasy finals.
